Our Student Membership is the next generation of leadership in management accounting
and financial management. Students have the same access and privileges as that of our
management and executive Members. IMA Members recognize the challenges facing
students and young professionals entering the profession today. We are here to provide
professional networking, mentoring, access to career opportunities and educational
resources to help ensure success and continued professional development of younger
members.

Who We Are
The IMA is the leading professional organization devoted exclusively to management
accounting and financial management. As set forth in its mission and vision statements, its
goals are to help members develop both personally and professionally, by means of
education, certification, and association with other business professionals.

As a respected leader within the global financial community, the IMA influences the
concepts and ethical practices in management accounting and financial management. Its
ethical standards provide guidance to practitioners for maintaining the highest levels of
ethical conduct.

IMA Publications
The monthly flagship publication of IMA, Strategic Finance, focuses on Leadership
Strategies in Accounting, Finance, and Information Management. Its timely, penetrating
articles are based on the latest developments in the finance and accounting world.
Management Accounting Quarterly, a new IMA journal, publishes leading-edge articles
merging the practical experience and theoretical knowledge of accounting and finance
academics and that of business professionals in order to contribute to the advancement of
modern business practices and the career success of members. Student members receive
ALL member publications of the IMA included in their member dues of $37 a year.

IMA Job Bank
The IMA Job Bank is set up for Businesses to advertise job openings, within their
companies, in which they feel that a qualified IMA Member may be able to fill. IMA Members
can view these job openings.

Our most important goal is to give you, our members, the support you need to achieve
success in your career and in your job. We do that through education, information, and
certification--all geared to ensure that you stay absolutely up to date on the rapid
changes taking place in our profession. Our goal is also to do that through the very
tangible support of employment opportunities, career mentoring, and practical job-hunting
advice.

Certification Programs Overview
The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and the Certified in Financial Management
(CFM) Programs have been designed to recognize the unique qualifications and expertise of
those professionals engaged in management accounting and financial management. These
certifications provide distinction in today's economic climate and afford the opportunity to
certify your expertise in the business areas that are critical to the decision-making
process.

The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) is dedicated to excellence within the
management accounting and financial management professions. One of IMA's most valuable
member benefits is its sponsorship of the CMA and CFM programs.

The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation was developed by the ICMA in
1972 to provide an objective measure of the individual's knowledge and competence in the
field of management accounting. Only the CMA program recognizes the unique proficiencies
required for success in this challenging profession.

The Certified in Financial Management (CFM) designation recognizes the unique skills,
experience, and knowledge of the financial management professional. The ICMA has
created the CFM Program to provide an objective measure of an individual's knowledge and
competence in this field.

Information just for students - Students may apply and take the examination at any time
and will be permitted to seek certification upon receipt of degree. There is no fee for
students to apply for ICMA membership, student membership in the IMA is only $37 and
students can take the certification exams at a 50% discount.

Computer based testing - The CMA and CFM Examinations are given in a computer-based
format. The examinations are 100% objective and consist of carefully constructed
multiple-choice questions that test all levels of cognitive skills. The exams are offered daily
(except Sundays and holidays) at an extensive network of Prometric Testing Centers
located throughout the U.S. and internationally. When you register with the ICMA, you will
be assigned a 120-day period in which to schedule your examination with Prometric.

Annual Student Conference
Attend a first rate, professional conference that is targeted specifically to students.

Opportunities to hear nationally-recognized speakers Networking with accounting finance
and information technology professionals, students and educators from all over the
country. Workshops on leadership development and professional certification.

Opportunities to meet with sponsors and exhibitors regarding employment opportunities,
certification and continuing education. Tours of local businesses (early registration
encouraged for these events!). Fun networking activities.
